Transcendental Acres
Our Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a safe space to support and elevate LGBTQ+ artists and creatives. Integral to this mission is the creation of a queer-led makerspace (think a gym membership, but for a workshop) that offers a residency program. We want to empower people to express themselves, while exploring and developing skills along the way. The makerspace will also be open to the public, providing everyone abides by the rules to keep it safe and comfortable.
The Path Forward
We plan to acquire land with a good amount of acreage. The vision includes clever and aesthetically pleasing tiny houses to allow for more resident creatives. Eventually, incorporating ethical, sustainable agriculture such as gardens, fruit trees, and livestock, will allow for increased independence and foster community integration.
We are currently searching for suitable properties. Securing a loan and raising the down payment are the immediate financial goals, and the core team has started working with local banks. Our ideal property would have enough space to house resident artists, develop a large, shared makerspace, and enough acreage to incorporate a moderate level of sustainable agriculture.
